Who is McClain?
McClain Dyer is a student organizer from Eastern Kentucky focused on strengthening Democratic organizing across the Commonwealth. Through his work with campus chapters, county Democratic parties, and campaigns across the state, he has seen firsthand the importance of building real connections between students and their local communities. McClain believes the future of the Democratic Party in Kentucky depends on stronger campus organizations, deeper partnerships with county parties, and a commitment to organizing in every part of the state. His vision for the College Democrats of Kentucky is simple:
Every Campus. Every County.
McClain's Story
McClain grew up in Eastern Kentucky, where community means everything and people take care of their own. Living here teaches you early that the decisions made in Frankfort and Washington do not just stay in those places. They shape our schools, our towns, and the opportunities people have at home.
When he came to Morehead State University, he started paying closer attention to how politics actually works in Kentucky. He got involved with the College Democrats because he believes students should have a voice in the future of our state, especially students from rural communities who often feel overlooked in the political conversation.
As he became more involved, he started working not just on campus but with Democratic organizers and county parties across Eastern Kentucky. That experience showed him something important. Students and county Democratic parties often want the same things for their communities, but they are not always connected to each other the way they should be.
That is where the idea for this campaign really began. He believes the College Democrats of Kentucky can play a much bigger role in building those connections and helping students organize in every part of the state.
Because if we want a stronger Democratic Party in Kentucky, we have to organize everywhere.
Every Campus. Every County.
