Energy Affordabillity

As someone who has fought directly against rising utility costs, McClain believes energy affordability is about protecting Kentucky families from being priced out of keeping the lights on. He knows rural communities, working people, and seniors are too often the first to feel the strain when utility bills climb and corporate interests ask ratepayers to shoulder even more. That is why he took a stand against HB 535 and helped lobby against it, contributing to the pressure that has stalled the bill and kept it from moving forward at this time. He believes CDKY should organize young Democrats around the fight for fair utility rates, stand with communities being crushed by high energy costs, and support leaders who will hold utility companies accountable while building a more affordable future for the commonwealth.

Rural Healthcare

As the son of a nurse and the grandson of a Kentucky retiree, McClain knows rural healthcare is not an abstract issue, it is something families live with every day. He understands what it means when a hospital closes, when a clinic is too far away, or when seniors and working people have to choose between getting care and paying their bills. That is why he believes rural healthcare expansion must be a priority, and why CDKY can play a real role in that fight by organizing young Democrats around local healthcare issues, partnering with rural communities, supporting candidates who will protect hospitals and expand access to care, and making sure the voices of Eastern Kentucky are heard in every county and at every level of the party.

Public Education

Coming from an underfunded rural school and graduating during the pandemic, McClain knows firsthand that too many Kentucky students are being asked to do more with less. He understands what it looks like when schools are stretched thin, teachers are overworked, and students in small towns are too often expected to settle for fewer opportunities than children elsewhere. That is why he believes public education must be strengthened through real investment in rural schools, support for teachers, updated classrooms, and curriculum that prepares students for the real world. He also believes CDKY has a responsibility to be part of that fight by organizing young Democrats to advocate for strong public schools, lifting up the voices of rural students, and backing leaders who will treat public education as the foundation of Kentucky’s future.

AI Regulations and Data Centers

McClain Dyer believes AI is the future, but that does not mean Kentucky should hand over its farmland, its communities, or its workers to unchecked development. He does not believe Kentuckians should lose valuable farmland just to make room for massive data centers, especially when rural communities are too often the ones asked to give something up in the name of “progress.” At the same time, he knows AI can be a powerful tool for solving complex problems, improving efficiency, and helping people do difficult work better. That is why he believes young Democrats should organize now around smart AI regulation that protects jobs, prevents AI from replacing real education and human learning, and makes sure this technology serves people instead of pushing them aside.
